​Packaged Water and Waste Systems

Packaged Aerobic Treatment Units – Waste Water
Pure Elements’ packaged aerobic waste water units provide effluent treatment exceeding Provincial Standards and Guidelines, including the proposed revisions for the Alberta Standard of Practice. Two standard size units are available:
  1. 1,500 US gpd for camps up to 25 persons
  2. 4,000 US gpd for camps 50 – 60 persons.

Custom designed units for larger flows are readily designed for your specific size and application. All units are manufactured with NSF Certified parts and materials. All treatment units exceed NSF 40, Class I Certification involving rigorous, independent testing under excessive loading conditions over a minimum 6-month period.

Our smallest treatment unit consists of a single 20’ container, while larger flows require 40’ containers, and/or multiple units. Cost effective building solutions for large or lengthy projects are available.


Treatment Process
Primary Treatment
  • The septic tank is the most common initial treatment component and is often the only pre-treatment used upstream of a treatment field, mound or open discharge. The purpose of primary treatment is to remove solids by settling and floating, as well as floating oil and grease. Typical septic tank treatment is expected to reduce effluent BOD by about 40%, and TSS by about 65%.
 
Aerobic Treatment Units
  • Packaged treatment Plants (secondary treatment) are installed after a traditional septic tank, and before the field. Typically, they use a biochemical oxidation process to remove organic matter.
  • The two main processes are suspended growth, where the The packaged plant reduces the BOD and TSS (organics, bacteria and suspended solids) from approximately 150 mg/L down to under 20 mg/L. By reducing the BOD and TSS, the effluent delivered out to the final treatment (the soil base treatment) is much cleaner, therefore much easier to pass through the soil horizons and less stress on the final treatment process.

Treatment Field
  • The final treatment is the soil base treatment. By placing pipe fields in soil, we take advantage of the bacteria and bugs in this zone which are the most productive natural microbes in the native soils. Natural bacteria eat organic waste and pathogens in the wastewater, completing the treatment process. Aerobic treatment units help improve the effectiveness and sustainability of a soil based final treatment component because BOD and TSS levels are reduced which places less demand on the soil organisms to accomplish treatment.
